Confession: I got up this morning, walked down to Waikiki, and had the breakfast of champions…a GIANT bowl of Yogurtland at oh say, 9:30ish a.m. because they for some reason thankfully opened early today.
I continued my morning with a few hours reading on the beach. The beach is really the perfect place to be an introvert, stuck in my books, while still surrounded by people who make me think I’m being social.
I did step out of my comfort zone a bit last evening and went to ARTafterDARK solo. I eventually met up with some friends which was of course the highlight of the evening, but I also was really surprised that I felt ok experiencing the social scene independently. And that’s going to be a really important aspect of my travels. I need to focus on my independent confidence and re-visit the assured, inquisitive person in me that’s taken a break for a while, I need to assert myself again.
And yes, going out on my own is a small step, but it’s a start.
On a completely different note, I need a healthy re-boot. Yogurtland for breakfast is nice in every once in a while, but I’ve fallen hard off of the healthy wagon and need to get back on. I’d love to train for a race. I don’t really think it’s going to fit into my travels so I’m going to make a commitment to myself to focus on eating clean and staying as active as possible for the month leading up to my trip. And this all starts tomorrow of course because well, even though Yogurtland is better than Haagen Dazs, it’s still pretty lacking in wholesomeness ;)
So cheers to freshening up the routine and getting back into a healthy mindset.
